Application

Load-bearing walls for full-scale homes (Dyavaprithvi, Illam), community buildings, boundary walls, arches, jaali screens, and vaulted roof systems, SEB are the most modular and versatile earthen techniques.

Composition

Sieved sandy-clay soil (clay in the 10–20% band) corrected with sand, stabilised with 5–8% cement or lime, compressed in a block press and cured under cover for 3–4 weeks; no kiln, no burning.

Comfort

Dense pressed-earth walls carry real thermal mass and the humidity-buffering ability of unfired clay; paired with vaults and passive ventilation, the home breathes through its roof instead of consuming electricity.

Features

A fraction of fired brick’s embodied energy, structurally engineered, fire-resistant, and crisply modular, individual blocks replaceable, with every wall wearing the colour of its own soil.
