Fika is named for the Swedish concept of pausing to enjoy something – coffee, conversation, the moment itself. It is a farmhouse that takes that idea seriously: confident in its materiality, easy in its proportions, Site responsive eco friendly design with a blend of minimalism and modernism and warm and cosy japandi inspired interiors.
Red brick and mud plaster form the primary palette: warm, textured, and entirely at home in the South Indian landscape. Lantana cane, harvested from the invasive species common across the region, is used in detailing and boundary fencing. Quarry waste stone forms pathways and paving. Nothing is imported. Everything is considered.
Low impact, built with what is available. All sourced within the region, reducing extraction and eliminating long-distance transport entirely.
Mud plaster replaces paint throughout - breathable, and a finish that deepens rather than peels with each passing monsoon.
